CUTTING IT
DEEP

My journey into barbering began unexpectedly during Covid, when I started cutting hair mainly to maintain a neat appearance and earn extra income. I never imagined it would become more than a temporary side hustle.
One day, while filling my bike tires at a gas station, a stranger complimented my haircut. When I mentioned I cut it myself, he shared how he had lost his barbers due to Covid and invited me to join his nearby shop, New Trendsetters. It felt like fate guiding me.
Starting at New Trendsetters, I had few clients and little experience, so I practiced relentlessly. I convinced friends to let me cut their hair weekly and even offered free haircuts to the homeless who visited the shop. It was there that I began to realize the profound impact a haircut can have. Seeing the joy and renewed confidence on their faces deeply moved me and made me fall in love with barbering.
This journey has transformed my view of barbering from a simple task into a meaningful way to connect with and uplift others.
